Family fashion retailer Peacocks opened a new store in Hull city centre today (Thursday, November 13) and city-born soap star Gemma Oaten was there to launch it.
The shop, in Prospect Shopping Centre, stocks a wide variety of clothing and accessories for all ages, and includes celebrity ranges, the Louise Redknapp Edit and Dani Dyer Collection, as well as a menswear range as seen on Michael Owen. To celebrate the opening of the new store, Peacocks was offering discounts all day to shoppers, and a golden ticket for the first ten customers through the door, gifting them a £50 voucher to spend in store.
Gemma said she was delighted to be invited to open the store for Peacocks and admitted to going “over the top” with her own purchases. “I’m such a hermit, I absolutely love their pyjamas and comfy jumpers,” she said.
“It’s so nice to be able to go and open a local shop – I was gutted when Peacocks left St Stephen’s. It’s so brilliant they have gone from being a small little shop to working with the likes of Michael Owen and Louise – but they’ve not sacrificed their customers.
“The price point is so good and their stuff is lovely. I wasn’t paid to open the shop; I was there because I think they are great and I want to support the city in creating more jobs and bringing work back to the Prospect Centre.
“It was really well attended and it made me feel really happy to be supporting the high street. It will hopefully get more people back to the Prospect Centre.”
Hull Live photographer Donna Clifford was one of the first people through the door at the store. Her pictures below give a first glimpse of what is on offer to customers.
