One new Hull FC recruit is on the England radar.

Hull FC recruited for the 2026 season with one key area in mind: their forward pack. And it’s one prop forward that’s been singled out to Black and Whites assistant coach Andy Last as a potential star and England player of the future.

Adding further experience, the likes of Sam Lisone, James Bell, and Joe Batchelor are seasoned campaigners, but it’s the capture of Harvie Hill that has turned a few heads. In fact, by the accounts of England head coach Shaun Wane and Wigan half-back Harry Smith, the 22-year-old is very much one for the future – not just a stellar signing for Hull, but someone very much on the radar of England, should he progress as anticipated.

Coming with a big reputation, the Cumbrian will arrive in East Yorkshire from Wigan Warriors for pre-season training for November 3’s start, and he’s already buoyed to get stuck in – with Last excited about what Hill, amid Hull’s other seven new recruits, can do.

“I think we’ve recruited really, really well,” Last told Hull Live. “I think we’ve got a very powerful forward pack with a good mix of skill sets.

“But Harvie Hill is going to be a player that I’m really excited to see in a black and white shirt. The lads I’m working with in England, Waney, the coaches and the players, they speak really highly of him.

“Harry Smith says we’ve really got a big player on our hands. They think he’s going to progress into an England international player in a couple of years, which is brilliant for us. That’s what we want at our club.”

Of course, Hill isn’t the only Hull FC player being talked about for future England selection. The club’s two young wingers, Harvey Barron and Lewis Martin, are on the radar as well and are spoken about in meetings.

Both well over six feet tall, athletic, fast, tough in yardage, and good in the air, they fit the attributes and qualities that Wane desires most, and it’s thought, if they too keep progressing at the rate they did this year, that future call-ups won’t be too far away.

That is something Last, a proud Hull-born coach and Wane’s assistant since 2020, is hoping to see more of: Hull FC players in the international setup, with Jake Connor, Jamie Shaul, and Scott Taylor the last representatives.

He added: “That’s one of the things I’m hoping we can do: get some blokes in the England set-up who have got some potential and who wear that black and white shirt with pride, perform well, and then get in that England team.

“The likes of Lewis Martin and Harvey Barron – they had great years for us and they have been spoken about at England meetings. They just need to keep progressing, but they are certainly on the radar. That is great for us as a club.”
