Understandably, she couldn’t believe it!

Laceby mum’s incredible £250k win
A dedicatednurse and mum who made a wish for “a little extra money” by tossing a coin into a wishing well, has had her dreams realised. Becki Hulatt, 43, scooped £250,000 on the ‘Jungle Jackpot’ National Lottery Instant Win Game just hours after a trip that now seems to have been sprinkled with a touch of good fortune.
Becki, who lives in a cottage with her 18-year-old son Brandon, has spoken about what happened in the run-up to her life-changing win. She said: “A couple of days before our trip to the Peak District, my son’s old banger finally gave up on him. He was supposed to be heading there with his friends, but because his car broke down, I offered to drive them instead.
“The Peak District is one of our favourite places to go – we’ve always loved walking there and spending time outdoors together. When we arrived at Matlock Bath we went for a walk and came across a little wishing well tucked away on the trail. We both threw in 50p – he wished for a new car, and I wished to win some money.
“The very next day, after a long shift at work, I decided to unwind by playing an Instant Win Game online and suddenly saw I’d won £250k. I just couldn’t believe it.”
The first thing Becki, from Laceby, near Grimsby, did was fulfil her son’s wish – purchasing him a brand-new Audi A1. She added: “To think that both our wishes came true at the same time is just unbelievable.
“The Peak District already held special memories for us, but now it feels like the most magical place in the world.”
Alongside providing her son with a new set of wheels, Becki has ambitious plans for herself as well. A devoted motorsport enthusiast, she and Brandon frequently spend their weekends at racing circuits, both spectating and taking part in track days.
Now, following her windfall, Becki says they will be creating even more cherished moments together pursuing their shared passion. However, the change she is most looking forward to is moving to a new home.
Becki and her son currently live in a compact cottage with limited outdoor space. Now she is currently searching for a new property with a garden.
For Becki, who has always adored horticulture but lately hasn’t been able to indulge in it, this represents the ultimate luxury.
Looking back on her win, Becki says that she feels most thankful for being able to provide her son with a more secure foundation in life while also moving to a new home where they can both unwind and appreciate life’s simple pleasures.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: “Huge congratulations to Becki on her incredible £250k Instant Win Game prize. It is almost unbelievable that both Becki and Brandon’s wishes came true just a day later!
“The Peak District is clearly a special place for them, and now they can look forward to many more happy memories there, alongside their exciting new home and garden. We couldn’t be happier for them both.”
Becki played the Jungle Jackpot Instant Win Game on August 2, 2025, securing the maximum prize of £250,000. The digital game costs £3 and offers a 1 in 2.75 probability of winning a prize.
An Allwyn spokesperson added: “Playing any National Lottery game is more than just a chance to win; it’s a way to contribute to something much bigger. Each week, players help generate around £30m for National Lottery-funded projects.
“With over £50bn raised for Good Causes since launch, this funds hundreds of projects in every postcode area across the UK.”
