The Beatles fans celebrated the windfall at Liverpool’s Cavern Club
A family syndicate from Hull who are huge fans of The Beatles have dubbed themselves the “Fab Four” after striking gold on a EuroMillions draw. A lucky ticket landed them an incredible £416,384.50 prize, meaning over £104k for each member.
The Ullah/Bowman Family Syndicate consists of syndicate leader Stephen Ullah, 70; his wife Beverley, 62; their son, Stephen, 44, and daughter Deon, 42. The close-knit family, who run a popular local pub in Hull, have all worked together in the business at various points in their lives.
Even their children and grandchildren help out, making both the pub and the win a true family affair. As lifelong Liverpool FC supporters and huge fans of The Beatles, the family knew exactly where they wanted to celebrate their win.
They decided to come together to mark the special occasion in Liverpool with the whole family. They began the celebration staying at a Beatles-themed hotel, went for celebratory drinks and lunch at the world-famous Cavern Club and took a swing by the iconic Beatles statue near the Liverpool docks.
Deon said: “We’re such big Beatles fans, so to celebrate in Liverpool – a city that we have so many family ties with – just made sense. We have so many memories already in Liverpool, including mum’s 50th at the Cavern and countless football days out, but this one tops them all. It really is a magical mystery tour moment for us.”
The winners started their National Lottery syndicate back in 2020 during the Covid pandemic on Stephen senior’s 65th birthday. With tough times hitting their pub trade, they decided to start a National Lottery syndicate together in the hope that “one day” it might help them out. Five years later, their dream has come true.
The family’s win almost didn’t happen at all. Usually, Stephen (Snr) is in charge of buying the syndicate’s ticket each week but while the family were away at their holiday lodge, he forgot to do so.
Luckily, Beverley rushed out just minutes before sales closed to pick up a ticket. That very ticket turned out to be the big winner.
“We couldn’t believe it when we saw the numbers come up,” said Stephen. “We’ve always played as a family syndicate and said, ‘one day it’ll be our turn’, so to have actually done it is just incredible.”
Beverley said: “I only just managed to buy the ticket in time – if I hadn’t nipped out at the last minute, we would have missed out completely. I checked the ticket the next day whilst the children and grandchildren had popped out.
“Once I realised we had actually won, I started running around the house dancing and screaming. Stephen thought I had gone crazy!”
Now, the family are busy making plans to spend their windfall. Deon has treated herself to a brand-new, high-spec motorhome, trading in her older one – plus a new car.
Beverley plans to buy a new oven with her share of winnings, and also enjoy more lovely holidays with husband Stephen. Stephen junior plans to use his winnings to pay off his mortgage to make everyday life with his family a little more comfortable – and also purchase a new car.
Stephen (Jr) summarised the whole experience, saying: “We’ve all worked hard as a family for so long and this win will allow us to make even more amazing memories together – including more family trips to Liverpool. We couldn’t be happier.”
Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at The National Lottery, said: “Huge congratulations to Stephen, Beverley, Stephen and Deon – Hull’s very own Fab Four. They’ve come together to win an incredible prize and it’s fantastic to see them already making exciting plans. From new motorhomes to family holidays, this win will bring them memories to last a lifetime.”
The Ullah/Bowman Family Syndicate play a Lucky Dip every Tuesday and Friday on EuroMillions. The winning draw was on August 15, 2025, where the family matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star number.
The winning numbers for the draw were 13, 30, 35, 36, 40 and the Lucky Star numbers were 2 and 6. They plan to continue playing as a family syndicate for the foreseeable future.
Playing any National Lottery game is more than just a chance to win; it’s a way to contribute to something much bigger. Each week, players help generate around £30m for National Lottery-funded projects.
