Historic inn has transformed its entrance and courtyard with immersive festive walk-through

A giant wardrobe greets guests visiting an East Yorkshire hotel this Christmas. The Beverley Arms has transformed its entrance and courtyard into an immersive walk-through experience for the festive season.

Inspired by the wonder and nostalgia of classic winter tales, the 38-room, 18th century coaching inn invites guests to “step through the wardrobe” into a magical Christmas experience in the heart of East Yorkshire. A spectacularly festive world now greets visitors, with a giant wardrobe façade marking the start of the journey.

Guests are then led through a beautifully dressed outdoor space filled with Christmas trees, twinkling lights, enchanting décor and cosy corners. At the heart of the experience sits the courtyard with a warm, festively dressed canopy inspired by magical tales, where guests can enjoy seasonal dining, winter warmers, and a full programme of Christmas events.

Designed for families, friends, and festive meet-ups, it has been heralded as one of East Yorkshire’s most atmospheric winter destinations. The “into the wardrobe” installation was unveiled in late November and a cosy heated outdoor tent means people can enjoy festive dining, afternoon tea, and special winter menus in the themed atmosphere of the courtyard.

Special seasonal events began with a Voices of Christmas performance by St Mary’s Church Choir, with carols, canapés and live music, and Father Christmas has also been making appearances at the hotel. On Tuesday, December 23, there is a Mistletoe & Melodies festive music night and the inn is also planning for New Year’s Eve celebrations, with live music until 12.15am.

Guests can also warm up with the hotel’s new range of indulgent winter hot chocolates, including Amaretto Velvet, Baileys and the “Naughty or Nice” hot chocolate. Festive menus will also be on offer throughout the season, including an indulgent afternoon tea of savoury and sweet treats.
