A Christmas-themed bus will bring festive cheer to schools across East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire this week.

Organised by BBC Radio Humberside, the bus, carrying Father Christmas and his elves, will make a surprise stop at a school in the region on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The bus will also visit a secret location on Friday, and clues will be gathered by schools throughout the week as they help Father Christmas find lost letters.

Clare Crooks, executive editor at BBC Radio Humberside, said the children react with a “mix of awe, wonder and disbelief” when the bus arrives at their school – with teachers keeping the visit a secret.

The schools will be revealed on the Kofi Smiles breakfast show and the Carla Greene mid-morning show, with listeners encouraged to “stay tuned and listen live” across the week for updates from the schools and clues for Friday’s secret location.

The open-top double decker bus has been loaned to BBC Radio Humberside by East Yorkshire buses, and has been decked-out with tinsel, garlands and snow spray by a BBC team and the bus company.

This will be the sixth year of the Santa bus, with schools visited last year including New Pasture Lane Primary School in Bridlington, Signhills Academy in Cleethorpes and Cavendish Primary School in Hull.
