Specialist teams have been working over the weekend
Police have today issued an update on their investigation after “human skeletal remains” were found in a tent in Hull last week. A member of the public reported the discovery at around 8.15pm on Thursday, December 11.
Humberside Police say they tragically found “what are thought to be human remains in a tent” down an alley near Melwood Grove, off Beverley Road. A scene guard was put in place and forensic teams have been working to establish what happened.
On Monday, Detective Chief Inspector Ben Robinson said: “Whilst I appreciate that a discovery of this nature may cause concern within the community, I want to reassure residents that a scene guard was immediately put in place to allow initial enquiries to be carried out. This has since been lifted.
“Throughout last week and over the weekend, specialist teams have been carrying out extensive work and this will continue across the coming weeks. We currently believe the remains relate to one individual, however enquiries remain ongoing to establish the identification and full circumstances of this discovery.
“We would ask anyone who has any information that could assist our enquiries, please contact 101 quoting log 453 of 11 December.”
