There will be changes to bin collections over the festive season. Hull City Council is reminding residents to check their collection dates over Christmas and New Year.
Councillor Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for environment at Hull City Council, said: “Bin collections over Christmas and New Year are slightly different, so to ensure bins are emptied, everyone should check their calendars to make sure they put their bins out on the right days.”

- Thursday, December 25 / Saturday, December 27

- Thursday, January 1 / Saturday, January 3
- Friday, January 2 / Tuesday, January 6
- Tuesday, January 6 / Wednesday, January 7
- Wednesday, January 7 / Thursday, January 8
- Thursday, January 8 / Friday, January 9
- Friday, January 9 / Saturday, January 10
The council said that collection dates will resume on Tuesday, January 13. Residents can check their collection days at any time via the online bin collection day checker.
The council is urging residents to cut down on food waste and recycle right this festive season. Cllr Quinn added: “With all the extra food, packaging, and wrapping at Christmas, it’s easy for waste to pile up. But most of it can be recycled, and a lot of food waste can be avoided altogether. This Christmas, we’re asking everyone to plan meals carefully, use up leftovers, and make sure any unavoidable food waste goes in the brown bin.”
