Two Hull men “sought retribution” against a man and woman after a drugs network they were linked to was discovered, police said.
In February, Humberside Police attended an address in Hull and seized a quantity of drugs.
At Hull Crown Court on Tuesday, Ryan Elton, 39, of Ilthorpe, was sentenced for actual bodily harm and assault by beating. Nathan Heath, 41, of Hawthorn Avenue, was sentenced for perverting the course of justice and being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs – heroin and cocaine.
Det Con Heather Butler said: “These attacks in broad daylight, followed by an attempt to pay a victim to retract their statement, were calculated and cowardly.”
After the drugs were seized, Humberside Police said the man who was living at the property was “kicked to the stomach and head” in an assault by Elton, with a further assault taking place 10 days later.
The force said Heath was reported to have contacted the woman who lived at the property and offer her “£1,000 to drop the charges”.
At Hull Crown Court, Elton pleaded guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm and assault by beating and was sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday.
Heath pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. He was sentenced to four years in prison.
Both were also handed 10-year restraining orders.
Det Con Butler said: “When offenders choose to spend their time peddling Class A drugs, threatening people, and trying to buy their way out of accountability, they can expect to spend their time behind bars instead.”
