A Hull play park is to get a “major upgrade” in a bid to tackle flooding problems, the city council has said.

The authority said Kingswood Park on School Lane was often “unusable due to water pooling under the play equipment” following bad weather.

The work will see the removal of existing grass mats across the site and the removal of pads under the play areas.

Raised areas would also be created around play equipment to reduce water retention, the council said.

Funding for the project is coming from the council’s Leader Fund.

Leader Mike Ross said: “Kingswood is a thriving community and its families deserve high-quality outdoor spaces, so I’m delighted to support this scheme.

“These improvements will make the park usable all year round, giving children a safe place to play.

“I look forward to seeing the benefits for local residents once the work is complete.”
