The application also includes a new car wash and an EV charging Hub
Plans for a new drive-thru coffee shop have been submitted to Hull City Council. The application seeks to build on an site off Stoneferry Road.
The site in question sits north of the Pets at Home at the Ferry Lane/Stoneferry Road roundabout. The application also includes a new car wash and a 12 space EV charging area.
There are already a number of big name coffee shops in and around Hull, but submitted planning documents suggest these plans could bring a new name for the city’s coffee drinkers to try. Mock ups of how the building would look include the name ‘Bocca Felice.’
As well as meaning ‘happy mouth’ in Italian, Bocca Felice seems to be an new name in the world of coffee. Their website states: “Something new is coming…like the beverages we create and the service we craft, we believe in giving you the best. We’ve begun work on perfecting becoming the new standard in coffee retailing… Coming soon…”
Submitted documents state: “The site extends to some 0.38ha and is an underused area of land, used in part for caravan and motor vehicle storage and in part is the site of a former petrol filling station, now used as a car wash. The site mainly comprises areas of hardstanding from its former use.”

Access to the site would come from an existing access road off Stoneferry Road, which splits the site into two main sections (north and south). Under the plans, north of the road would be 12 EV charging spaces, and south of the access road would be the coffee shop and new car wash.
Documents state that the plans that have been submitted are “significantly reduced” from what developers originally had in mind. Following a pre-application process and the receipt of planning officer comments, not only has there been a reduction in “the range of uses proposed,” but also “application site is substantially smaller.”
