‘It was wonderful seeing the animals and being able to hold them’
It was a fabulous day at Mallard Court care home in Bridlington as the Furry Friends Animal Therapy group visited the site. Residents, visitors and staff were all delighted as cute animals and their handlers came to spread some cheer.
There was a wide variety of animals including Audrey the Sugar Glider, Jack the Giant Rabbit, Monty the Python, Smokey the Bearded Dragon and Freckles the Albino Hedgehog. For one resident, the day brought back childhood memories.
Jean said: “As a child I used to love all animals and enjoyed visits to the local animal sanctuary. Today was very enjoyable, and it was wonderful seeing the animals and being able to hold them.”
And her favourite animal might come as a surprise. She continued: “Monty the Python and I got on really well!”
General Manager Angela Dooley spoke about the wonderful day. She said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today.
“We knew that having the Furry Friends here would be amazing fun for all our residents, visitors and staff. We are always looking for new activities for the residents, and today we have seen the seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”
