It is said to have allowed clinicians to see around 180 additional patients each year
A health and care provider based in Hull has won a top national award in recognition of its use of AI systems to “dramatically” reduce the administrative burden. City Health Care Partnership (CHCP), a social enterprise which provides everything from urgent care to sexual health services, won the Innovation of the Year Award at the UK Social Enterprise Awards.
The organisation was singled out for its use of a ‘Heidi’ – an AI tool that automates note-taking and has been benefiting staff at the CHCP-run Jean Bishop Integrated Care Centre in East Hull. Heidi is said to have allowed clinicians to see around 180 additional patients each year.
CHCP, which also runs services on Merseyside and the wider East Riding of Yorkshire, is said to have used the time saved to launch a Frailty Education and Training programme for the centre. Meanwhile clinical documentation quality is reported to have significantly improved with clearer, more precise notes containing fewer errors.
A spokesperson at CHCP said: “Thank you very much for recognising us with this award. The frailty team at the Jean Bishop Centre in Hull are enthusiastic and want to make something work. At the centre of what we do, there is a patient and a healthcare professional and anything we can do to make that interaction better is for the best.”
Peter Holbrook, chief executive of Social Enterprise UK, said: “Every year brings its challenges for businesses, but 2025 saw a difficult economic trading environment alongside a sometimes unsettling national conversation on what it means to be British that dominated the political landscape. It was therefore truly heartening to celebrate businesses built on care and compassion that support the most vulnerable members of our communities, representing Britain at its best.
“The spirit of togetherness demonstrated by all the nominated social enterprises was the foundation for a fantastic night of well-deserved celebration. Congratulations to all of the winners and to City Health Care Partnership for their award.”
CHCP, previously NHS Hull provider services, employs more than 2,000 people and operates a diverse range of service from palliative care to psychological wellbeing, urgent care to dental services. Its charity, City Health Care Partnership Foundation, offers small grants to voluntary and community groups who are helping to improve local health and wellbeing.
Social enterprises are businesses that trade for a social or environmental purpose. Social Enterprise UK is a membership body for social enterprises and campaigns on behalf of their interests.
