The courses will give expert advice on how to take control of your finances

A money management course to help young people to build their budgets is giving £40 vouchers to those who complete the classes. East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced the return of the Let’s Talk Money course, which is aimed at learners aged 19 and over. The course looks at topics such as building a budget, and using online price comparison tools and will also signpost to other services that can support saving money.

The course is designed to help residents grasp a better understanding of their finances, as well as the support networks available to improve financial literacy. The short, funded course aims to help people take charge of their finances, whether they are looking to cut costs, stretch their budget or just feel more confident with money.

The course will give money-saving tips and advice on how to ‘shop smart’, help people feel confident to make a household budget, be able to review household outgoings. It will also help people know where to find advice for reducing household bills and support for benefits.

And those who want to take part can do so this month in Cottingham, Goole, Bridlington, Withernsea, and Beverley. Learners who compete the course will get a £40 Love to Shop voucher, just in time for Christmas.

The Let’s Talk Money programme is free to anyone with an income of less than £25,000 per year, with a fee for those who earn over that threshold.
