

The magic of Christmas and its most important visitor conjured up crowds of happy people in Hull city centre today (Sunday, November 23).
Hull’s annual Santa Arrival Parade transported the big man in red through the streets, much to the joy of throngs of waiting spectators. Santa Claus was borne on his fabulous shimmering float from Hull New Theatre to Princes Quay shopping centre in the jolly event packed full of seasonal cheer.
The parade sprinkled festive magic in its wake as it made its way through the streets, with sparkling lights, fanciful floats and lots of Christmas characters adding a splash of holiday magic to proceedings. A smiling and waving Santa was obviously delighted with the reception he received in the city.
After his journey, it was down to Santa to declare his Christmas grotto at Princes Quay open, and to conduct the official switching on of the shopping centre’s festive illuminations.
