‘Tanni’s openness, determination, and commitment to equality make her an ideal choice’

One of the UK’s most celebrated Paralympians who is a leading voice on equality and inclusion is heading to the region for a major event. Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson has been named as the keynote speaker at The Business Day, a huge draw for the business community which takes place at Bridlington Spa.

Baroness Grey-Thompson joins an illustrious list of past celebrity keynote speakers at the event, including Abba musician Björn Ulvaeus, Jo Malone, Lord Sugar, Baroness Brady, Clare Balding, Bob Geldof, John Simpson, Alexander Armstrong, Naga Munchetty, Josh Littlejohn, and Piers Morgan. Now in its tenth year, The Business Day attracts hundreds of people with its line-up of speakers to inspire and challenge delegates with fresh perspectives.

Baroness Grey-Thompson brings a wealth of experience from her extraordinary sporting career and her influential role in public life, renowned for her resilience, leadership, and advocacy for inclusivity. She is one of Britain’s greatest Paralympic athletes, competing in five Paralympic Games over 16 years and winning 16 medals – 11 gold, four silver, and one bronze.

She was made a Dame in 2005 for services to sport and appointed a Life Peer in 2010. Today, she is a Crossbench Peer in the House of Lords and chairs Sport Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The Business Day aims to offer engaging breakout sessions and speakers, with the chance to network with some of the region’s biggest business leaders. Tickets are now on sale for The Business Day, on June 5 2026. The running order and list of speakers is being finalised, while Gyles Brandreth will carry out hosting duties.
