City will hope to have a nearly fully-fit squad going into the busy festive period

Hull City’s desperately disappointing injury situation is showing signs of improving as the Tigers look forward to a busy run of 11 games in just over six weeks when they return to action at QPR on Saturday week.

The Tigers, who have been hit with consistent setbacks throughout the opening weeks of the season, were able to welcome back Mohamed Belloumi to the bench for Saturday’s 3-2 win over Portsmouth after he recovered from a hamstring problem picked up following his return from an ACL injury.

Belloumi didn’t get on the pitch in the end, with boss Sergej Jakirovic keen to try and protect his influential winger going into the international break, but having him back is a major boost.

City were still unable to call upon the likes of Oli McBurnie, John Lundstram and Liam Millar, but it’s hoped their respective returns are not too far away, with the international break coming at a helpful time for the Tigers, who sit fifth in the Championship.

Throughout the campaign so far, Semi Ajayi, Akin Famewo, Matt Crooks, Lewie Coyle, and Saturday’s goalscorer Enis Destan have all faced spells on the sidelines, in addition to those currently missing, but the picture is improving.

Here’s a look at where things stand inside the Tigers’ medical room…

John Lundstram

Expected return date: QPR

Oli McBurnie

Expected return date: After the break, but unlikely to be QPR

Kasey Palmer
