A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, police say
An arrest has been made after an elderly man suffered serious injuries in an ‘assault‘ on a bus in Hull. Police were called to the incident on George Street at around 1.50pm today (October 23).
It is reported the the 75-year-old “sustained facial injuries after being allegedly assaulted by another man”. Humberside Police have since stated they “believe this to be an incident between two people known to each other”.
Detective Inspector Andrew Crawforth said: “Following the report, I can confirm a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and use of threatening behaviour to provoke violence and remains in police custody whilst enquiries are ongoing. A 75-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
“I understand an incident of this nature will be concerning for the local community; however, I want to offer my reassurance that we take reports of this nature seriously and we believe this to be an incident between two people known to each other.”
