Here we go back 65 years to Hull and East Yorkshire as it was in 1960.

The gallery below features a selection of images from around the area including plenty of familiar sights, only looking rather different to how they are today. The construction of Hull College’s tower block near Queen’s Gardens continues while areas long-since pedestrianised such as Whitefriargate and the Cenotaph are lined with vehicles.

We also see work being carried out on Park Street Bridge along with a scene in Market Place that is very different now except of course for the iconic King Billy statue.
