

It was the year that saw Michael Jackson release his record-breaking album Thriller, you could watch the film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial as it premiered, and Prince William was born. While 1982 was more than 40 years ago, it was full of unforgettable moments.
Closer to home, it was also the year 12 bold Hull youngsters successfully sailed around the east coast of Britain. They reached Ipswich in a 70ft ocean going yacht.
It was also a time of change for the area around Corporation Pier. The former pontoon was dismantled and brickwork created walls, steps and seating which are a familiar part of the modern city.
