Two people have since been arrested, police say

A major Hull road was closed overnight following an “assault” which left a man with “serious injuries”. Police were called to Holderness Road shortly after midnight today (Wednesday, September 24) to reports a “man had sustained stab wounds after an altercation allegedly took place between a group of men”.

The road was closed until around 7am between Saltshouse Road and the Bilton roundabout at Ganstead Lane. Two people have since been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Gary Mathews, of Humberside Police, said: “Following the report, I can confirm a 34-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man were arrested on Nestor Grove, Hull, on suspicion of wounding with intent and both remain in police custody whilst enquiries are ongoing.

“A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. I understand an incident of this nature will be concerning for the local community, however I want to offer my reassurance that we take reports of this nature very seriously and we believe this to be an isolated incident.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or believes they may have any information or CCTV from the area, is urged to call the police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 25*133973.
