Hull City face a battle to keep head of recruitment Martin Hodge at the MKM Stadium amid interest from his former club, Swansea City.

Hodge has been working with City since the back end of last season and played a key role over the summer as City battled a transfer embargo and fee restrictions imposed on them by the EFL during a manic transfer window period.

Despite being unable to buy players or pay a loan fee, the Tigers were able to make some stellar signings like Oli McBurnie and John Lundstram, two players who played a major part on Saturday as City beat Southampton 3-1 at the MKM Stadium.

The former goalkeeper, who made more than 600 appearances during his playing career, worked closely with sporting director Jared Dublin and Mustapha Yokes, as well as owner Acun Ilicali, to help give Sergej Jakirovic an exciting squad despite the restrictions.

Sources have indicated to Hull Live that the club remain hopeful that Hodge will remain at the MKM Stadium and continue in his role, despite interest from the Swans.

Hodge spent a spell in South Wales in March last year working with former boss Luke Williams, before moving on and then linking up with Dublin at the MKM Stadium.

There has been a significant change at the Swansea.com Stadium in recent weeks with head of recruitment Richard Montague leaving earlier this month with global head of recruitment, Adam Worth, assuming that position.

Prior to his move to Swansea, the 66-year-old ex-Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper worked as chief scout at Burnley, as well as their arch-rivals Cardiff City and the Tigers opponents this weekend, Watford.
