Hull KR head coach Willie Peters is predicting a “great spectacle” when his side meet Leeds Rhinos on Sunday in a Super League battle of first versus third.
Mikey Lewis scored the winning try in April’s reverse fixture, completing a sensational comeback for Rovers in a match that saw Sauaso Sue and Ash Handley controversially sent off at AMT Headingley Stadium.
The Robins have remained unbeaten since, including their historic Challenge Cup victory over Warrington Wolves. Meanwhile, Brad Arthur’s Leeds have lost just once to climb the Super League table.
Rovers are aiming to maintain their form at the top, while Leeds could close the gap on Wigan Warriors following their 18-8 defeat to Leigh Leopards.
“Leeds are a good team,” Hull KR boss Peters said.
“They’ve worked their way up the ladder, and we knew what they were going to bring the first time we played them, and we’ll know what they’ll bring on Sunday as well.
“It’s going to be a great game – a great spectacle.”
Former Hull FC playmaker and current Leeds star Jake Connor will be aiming to shine against the Robins. The current frontrunner for the Man of Steel award will go head-to-head with Super League’s reigning best player, Lewis, in what promises to be a fierce contest.
“We know we’re going to be challenged, and we need to make sure we’re on,” Peters added.
“You’ve got to keep moving, you can’t take a breath with these guys. They play a good style, and they’ve got players that can hurt you at any stage.
“We’ve got a system that we believe in, and we’ve got to make sure we keep moving because if you stop, then that’s when they’re going to hurt you.”
