Footage of yesterday’s fire in Hull’s Albert Dock shows a closer view of the incident.
In the clip, filmed by Paul Sanderson, a dark plume of smoke engulfs a car park near Albert Dock. Paul had been leaving the gym when he witnessed smoke coming off the vessel, which caught fire around 10:35am yesterday.
People who had been onboard the vessel were checked over by ambulance crews. Fortunately, there were no reports of any injuries as a result of the fire or smoke.

Today, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire had been put out. In a statement, a spokesperson said: “The fire involving scrap metal on board a large docked vessel is now out and our firefighters brought it under control by 5am this morning. Firefighters remain on scene to monitor the situation and make sure there is no risk of reignition.
“Well done to our firefighters who worked through the night, continuously dampening down the cargo hold to bring the fire under control. Thank you also to our Control Room staff who took the initial 999 calls, coordinated communications with partner agencies and managed the logistics of relief crews throughout the incident.
“We’d also like to thank the port authorities and our emergency service partners for their ongoing support.
“You may still see wisps of steam from the dock as part of the cooling process, please do not be alarmed. There is also a strong smell of smoke in the area.”
