
Photographs sent to Hull Live show the fire service tackling a blaze at a Hull pub in the early hours of this morning.
Sadly, the staff at Sutton Fields pub, on Oslo Road, confirmed the building had suffered significant damage as a result. Taking to Facebook, they said: “Due to a devastating fire that we are all heartbroken about the pub will be closed until further notice.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience and may not be able to respond to your messages, if you have bookings please assume they are cancelled, this has been a devastating event for the whole team so please bear that in mind.”
Staff working at nearby store Aldi have reportedly been sent home as a result.
A spokesperson for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 2.24am on 28 June reporting a fire at a commercial property on Oslo Road in Hull. In total, five fire engines were sent and the first arrived within six minutes of the call.
“Our firefighters had extinguished the fire and left the incident by 5.45 am. All occupants had evacuated before our arrival and were accounted for.
“The fire started outside, spreading to a pergola before reaching the property. Fire investigation is ongoing.”
