Hull KR will give their players a special welcome on Friday evening after securing the Challenge Cup.
The Robins’ focus returns to the League Leaders’ Shield this week when they take on Catalans Dragons at Sewell Group Craven Park, their first return to home soil since their triumph at Wembley.
A party atmosphere is expected after ending their 40-year wait for a trophy, with many in east Hull still celebrating last weekend’s success.
The Challenge Cup trophy will be in attendance and on show for supporters before the match as it makes its return to the stadium under the club’s ownership for the first time in 45 years.
And Rovers have invested in additional pyrotechnics for when the team heads out onto the field too in order to add to the occasion.
There will be further celebrations post-match, but only if Rovers win. Should Willie Peters’ side manage to come out on top Friday night, the trophy will be paraded around the stadium following the game, and subsequently, there will be an extended fireworks display to wrap up the evening’s proceedings.
That will only happen if Rovers are victorious though. While the club is keen to celebrate their Challenge Cup success, their priority is now on retaining their place at the top of Super League, meaning post-match plans will be cancelled if they don’t get the result they’re looking for. The Dragons are currently ninth in Super League and have lost their last five matches, failing to score in their last three outings.
