Hull KR and St Helens have named their 21-man squads
Hull KR will head into Saturday evening’s Grand Final eliminator in good health, rested from a week off and boosted by the return of two key figures to the squad.
Coach Willie Peters has been able to recall Joe Burgess and Michael McIlorum to his 21-man squad for the play-off clash at Sewell Group Craven Park against St Helens.
The vastly-experienced pair are expected to feature against Paul Wellens’ men, with Bill Leyland and Noah Booth the ones who drop out this week.
As they did when gambling on the fitness of McIllorum in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley, Rovers are expected to call upon their veteran once again, with the 37-year-old having potentially just two games left in his career before retiring and heading to Catalans Dragons in a coaching capacity.
Meanwhile, St Helens head coach Paul Wellens has made one change to last week’s squad that shocked Leeds Rhinos in controversial circumstances. Kyle Feldt is out and in his place comes Jake Wingfield, who returns to the 21-man squad for the the first time in two months after ankle surgery in August.
Wellens faces a late call on the fitness of centre Mark Percival after he sustained a knee injury in the dramatic victory at Leeds, while Matty Lees is expected to feature after exiting the Leeds match at half-time to be at the birth of his daughter.
