
A man suffered ‘stab wounds’ in the incident which saw part of the east Hull road closed for several hours overnight earlier this week
A man has appeared in court following a “serious assault” which resulted in a major east Hull road closing for several hours earlier this week. A 25-year-old man suffered “stab wounds” during an alleged “altercation” on Holderness Road in the early hours of Wednesday (September 24).
The road was closed until around 7am between Saltshouse Road and the Bilton roundabout at Ganstead Lane. Two people were initially arrested in connection with the incident.
A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “At approximately 12.10am, we were called to reports that a man had sustained stab wounds after an altercation allegedly took place between a group of men. A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.”
A 40-year-old man has since been charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of Class B amphetamine. Luke Edgar, of Royal Mews, Hull, appeared at Hull Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning and was remanded into custody until his next court appearance at a later date.
On the day of the incident, Detective Inspector Gary Mathews said: “I understand an incident of this nature will be concerning for the local community, however I want to offer my reassurance that we take reports of this nature very seriously and we believe this to be an isolated incident.”
