Part of the A63 has been closed for safety reasons. Following torrential rain in the area, which led to a red flood warning for Hornsea last night, standing water has forced the closure.
Humberside Police initially issued advice for motorists to avoid the area, but shortly afterwards confirmed they had now closed the road between Hull City centre and the Hessle turn off.
In a statement, a spokesperson said: “Please be aware that we are advising that motorists that there is currently a road closure in place on the A63 westbound from Hull City Centre up to the Hessle turnoff due to standing water – Thank you for your patience at this time.”
The Government issued a red flood warning for Hornsea last night as torrential rain battered the region. Floodgates in the resort were closed and residents were advised to take action.
The warning has since been lifted. Updates on the A63 will be posted below.
