Danny Richardson says he is looking forward to a new opportunity in 2026, with Hull KR confirming the half-back’s departure at the conclusion of the 2025 Super League season.

The 29-year-old joined the Robins midway through the 2024 campaign, and had a year remaining on his current contract at Sewell Group Craven Park.

However, limited playing opportunities has seen the former St Helens youngster opt for a new challenge next season, looking to secure more game time.

He made six appearances for Hull KR.

“Thank you to the club. It’s been a privilege to play with the boys. They’re an honest, hardworking group that welcomed me in from the off,” Richardson said. “I’ve not played as much as I wanted over the past couple of seasons, injuries have played a part in that too. There comes a point where you have to go out and play and I’m looking forward to doing that with a new opportunity in 2026.”

Paying tribute, head coach Willie Peters added: “On behalf of the club, I want to thank Danny for his contribution to Hull KR over the past two seasons.

“Danny would have liked to have played more first-team rugby, but certainly when he’s played, he’s not let us down and has been a popular member of the team.”

Richardson linked up with York Knights at the beginning of August on loan, with that move set to become permanent amid the Championship side’s push for Super League. Head coach Mark Applegarth has already added Paul Vaughan and Josh Griffin to his squad, with St Helens’ Will Roberts and Jon Bennison, and Salford’s Matty Foster also expected to join.
