Leigh Leopards star hooker Edwin Ipape will miss the final round of the regular season after copping a one-match ban following the win over St Helens.
The hard-hitting Papua New Guinea international has been charged with a Grade A late contact on passer – not the incident that saw him sin-binned for high contact on counterpart Daryl Clark at the Leigh Sports Village.
Ipape became the first Leigh player of the season to be shown a card, with the sin-binning deemed sufficient enough for the challenge on Clark.
The late contact on passer incident comes with one penalty point, taking his total tally to six and meeting the threshold for a one-match suspension. Leigh host Huddersfield Giants in a bid to secure third spot on the table in a battle with Leeds Rhinos.
Meanwhile, St Helens young prop George Delaney has also been charged with a Grade A late contact on passer. Again, with five penalty points previously on his record, the new single point takes him over the one-match suspension threshold. St Helens host Castleford Tigers.
Lachlan Fitzgibbon’s Warrington Wolves career is over. The Australian back-rower, who is set to return home at the end of the campaign, was sin-binned in his side’s 34-2 defeat to Hull FC for a high shot on Sam Eseh, who subsequently failed a head injury assessment.
He has copped a Grade D head contact charge, with 15 penalty points resulting in a two-match ban and a fine.
Hull’s Jordan Lane, Hull KR’s Sam Luckley, Catalans’ Tariq Sims, Wigan’s Kaide Ellis, Saints’ Daryl Clark and Leigh’s Josh Charnley also received charges.
