Hull City head coach Sergej Jakirovic has praised referee David Webb for his performance on Saturday in the 2-2 draw at Swansea City, which saw his side battle back to earn a point.

City twice came from behind in South Wales to claim a deserved point after creating a plethora of chances against the Swans, but it took until John Egan volleyed in the equaliser seven minutes into added time after Regan Slater’s goalbound shot was blocked.

While Swans chief Alan Sheehan was displeased with the seven minutes added on at the end of the contest, Jakirovic was impressed with the way in which Webb allowed the game to flow.

“What have we got to lose? We are already 2-1 behind, so we need to play with risk, try to put more pressure on them, with long balls, the second balls, especially in the Championship,” Jakirovic said about pushing hard in the closing stages.

“It’s very dangerous because there were no fouls, no easy fouls. Maybe in my country, there will be 10 fouls more, and every long ball, if somebody screamed there, would be a foul, but here, you need to adapt, so I have already adapted.

“The referee was very perfect for me. I didn’t notice the referee on the pitch, and this is good. This is good because the crowd come to see players run and the game play out and not players lying down on the pitch all the time.”
