
To those of a certain age, it’s almost hard to believe the 1980s started well over 40 years ago.
The decade that saw computer technology begin to hit the mainstream, the arrival of CDs, and so many classic chart hits we still listen to today is one very fondly remembered by many.
Unsurprisingly, Hull has seen a lot of change since then too as this fascinating collection of photos from the decade reveals.
In them, we see the likes of King George Dock when the daily services to the continent were branded North Sea Ferries, the industry of the Bankside area, and the then brand-new Myton Bridge, along with Sammy’s Point long before The Deep and the Victoria Dock housing development.
Other views include the city centre, East Park and the Boothferry Road area at Costello Stadium.
