The Robins are one win from the League Leaders’ Shield and can secure it at Wakefield Trinity.
It’s not a bad time to be getting players back. So Willie Peters must be rubbing his hands together at the prospect of being able to call upon Oliver Gildart, Joe Burgess and Sauaso Sue as all come back into contention this week.
The return of Gildart is particularly fascinating. He is available after a six-month absence through a knee injury and now has a few games to get himself ready and back into form for the play-offs.
For that reason, Gildart will likely play, especially when you consider how well he was playing before the injury setback suffered at Magic Weekend. The question then turns to who he replaces, and the most obvious candidate would be Jack Broadbent, who has essentially filled his spot, very well, it should be said, while Gildart has been unavailable.
Whether Gildart can play himself ahead of Broadbent before the play-offs remains to be seen but you would have to think he will at least be given that opportunity.
With that in mind, you would think Joe Burgess would be recalled too in order for the pair to start getting in-sync again. Burgess missed last week’s win over Hull FC with a calf complaint but is set to be available for selection.
Of the three, Sauaso Sue appears the least likely to feature. He has played a lot of minutes this year and such is his importance, and Rovers having other options in that position, there doesn’t appear to be a need for him to be rushed back. Throw in Peters’ comments earlier in the week; he confirmed Sue hadn’t been running, it seems unlikely that he will play here.
Given that, we’re predicting changes on the left edge, but not much else.
