An East Yorkshire holiday park that offers a place to “rest, reconnect and rediscover” has scooped an industry award that recognises its eco-tourism credentials. Diane Simpson, who owns and runs Yellowtop Country Park near Foggathorpe, has picked up Best Brand Identity from the Big Business Entrepreneurs programme.
Set on the edge of the scenic Yorkshire Wolds, the park is said to have become one of Yorkshire’s most sought-after holiday destinations, attracting families, couples and nature lovers from across the country. The 27 acre site, which welcomes dogs, features 20 luxury lodges, seven romantic ‘Still Rabbit’ lodges, the five bedroom Yellowrush Lodge and a carp fishing lake.
Along with its accommodation, the site features a small wildlife sanctuary, which is said to harmonise it with the local environment and promote sustainable tourism. The park also hosts spiritual, holistic and business retreats.
Diane took sole ownership of Yellowtop just over six years ago, and has since transformed it into a modest ten-lodge site into its much larger offer today. Her award is said to highlight her efforts to create an eco-conscious holiday destination.
Under her leadership, Yellowtop has begun work on a solar farm to make the park fully off-grid. Diane’s next project will bring 20 eco-friendly outdoor retreats to the site, under The Wild Hare brand.
She said: “This award isn’t just recognition of our brand; it celebrates the values we have worked hard to bring to life. We are showing that tourism can be heart-led, environmentally conscious and still provide a memorable, high-quality experience for every guest.”
