The bright lights and buzzing atmosphere of Hull Fair are once again on the horizon. Visitors flock to the annual fair in their thousands and this year they can look forward to some brand new attractions.

The organisers of the world-famous fair, which has been running in the city since the 13th century, have been giving some updates about what is new for 2025 fairgoers to experience. And they are going to new heights to excite.

A post on Hull Fair’s Facebook page said: “Excited to announce the tallest ride of its kind in the UK, standing at 80m tall and the tallest drop ride to ever attend Hull Fair – Matthews Skyfall. A drop tower ride with seats that rotate around the tower as the carriage is elevated over 260 feet in the air, before finally holding position at the top and free falling back down.

“A unique ride currently in the UK; another show-stopping machine at this year’s Fair. Who’s brave enough to ride?”

Seemingly continuing to work on the premise, “go big or go home”, Hull Fair is also bringing another giant to the city skyline. A further post welcomes “Europe’s tallest travelling ride”.

The post was headed “Europe’s largest fair to welcome Europe’s tallest travelling ride” and went on to say: “Huuuuuge news (literally) if you’ve stay-cationed this summer and visited the much-loved resort of Skegness, you may have seen a rather tall tower amongst the seaside town’s skyline.

“We are excited to announce that this Goliath machine will soon be heading to our famous Walton Street ground for Hull Fair 2025. Currently the UK’s tallest ride and possibly one of the tallest mobile rides in the world, Big Ben Tower is scheduled to attend this year’s event standing at a whopping 85 metres tall.

“This showstopper of a ride will be visible across the city, and offer even better views from the top. The countdown is on.”

With over 250 rides and an array of sideshows, the fair also brings back its traditional favourites each year, including the likes of the dodgems and the waltzers. The Yorkshire section of the Showmen’s Guild, which is responsible for bringing the fair to Walton Street, has just announced the return of “Hull’s fastest waltzer” ride.

A post said: “Ride all night at the speed of light. The lads from Leeds return to Hull Fair 2025.

“Branded as Hull Fair’s fastest Waltzer [Hell Blazer] will return to give you the ride of your life, presented by Terry Atha’s Fun Fairs.” Whether fairgoers are looking for old favourites or the latest rides, the huge variety of “fair food” stalls or the chance to soak up the carnival atmosphere, Hull Fair returns to Walton Street from Friday, October 10 to Saturday, October 18.
