The Robins are without important players for the derby this weekend.
Derby day is almost upon us again as Hull KR prepare to take on their fierce rivals, Hull FC, at Sewell Group Craven Park on Sunday.
With the season reaching a conclusion, clubs and players across the competition are feeling the strains of the season. Injuries are starting to mount up, with some clubs worse off than others.
For Rovers, who could secure the League Leaders’ Shield at the weekend if results go their way, they are in relatively good health. Here’s an update on all the players currently unavailable for selection.
Oliver Gildart – Sunday’s game is likely to be a week too soon for the centre, who is very close to a return after a four month layoff. He hasn’t played since suffering an injury at Magic Weekend but is almost ready to go. While his return is unlikely to take place on Sunday, it could well come the week after against Wakefield Trinity.
Sauaso Sue – Suffered a knee injury against Leeds Rhinos but thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as initially feared. He will certainly miss the derby, but depending on his progress, could be available next week. The expectation is that the worse-case scenario is that he returns for the play-offs.
Micky McIlorum – Fractured his ankle in a freak training ground incident last month that has put him on the sidelines again. He isn’t expected to play again before the play-offs but Rovers are optimistic that he will be fit by the time the play-offs arrive.
Rhyse Martin – Not injured, but is suspended for the tackle that saw Morgan Knowles failed a head injury assessment last week. He will be available for selection for the round 27 game against Warrington Wolves.
Lee Kershaw – Sadly out for the season with an ACL injury picked up in training during the summer. He will aim for a return to action in 2026.
