Hull City remain active as we head into the final hours of the transfer window, and there could yet be a late arrival at the MKM Stadium before the 7pm deadline.

Much of the talk in recent days has surrounded departures, however, with the futures of Ivor Pandur and Charlie Hughes in sharp focus, but as it stands, both players are now expected to remain at the MKM Stadium in what would be a major boost to Sergej Jakirovic.

City had been eying up replacements for Pandur if he should leave before the transfer deadline, and it had been expected that the Croatian would be sacrificed this month in a bid to help with the club’s cash flow; however, in the last 24 hours, it has become clear that the club have moved to keep him after their £5m valuation was not met by Middlesbrough, Leicester City or Werder Bremen who were among the clubs keen on the 25-year-old.

The club also look to have won their battle to keep Charlie Hughes at the MKM Stadium, and have rejected £4m, £7m and £10m bids from Coventry City for the 21-year-old who endured a nightmare return to the side at Bristol City on Saturday.

Owner Acun Ilicali has remained steadfast in his belief that Hughes will not be sold unless a club offered a crazy amount of money, and that has not happened for a player who has just 50 Championship appearances under his belt.

There could be a departure with tentative interest in Kasey Palmer, but City are not keen to let the playmaker leave and would need to have replacements lined up, which under their restrictions, is not easy.

In terms of incomings, the Tigers are in advanced talks to sign midfielder Darko Gyabi from Leeds United on loan for the season, and it’s understood his move could happen without the need to move somebody out because of his salary being relatively low.

Amir Hadziahmetovic will complete his move from Besiktas, with that deal expected to be announced on Monday, along with Abu Kamara’s exit to Getafe, which was sealed on Friday evening.

The Tigers would like to move out some of their fringe young players but that’s a hard thing to do given the fragile nature of the squad and how they may well be required between now and January.

As always with City, you can never rule out some late drama, but their biggest success on the final day would be keeping Pandur and Hughes, and adding to their midfield ranks.
