The last of Coldplay’s ten-strong run of concerts in London are having to be rescheduled, much to the dismay of fans. The band, who performed two sell-out shows in Hull before heading down to the capital, have posted an apology on social media.

Coldplay were originally due on stage at Wembley Stadium on August 22 and 23, 26 and 27, and 30 and 31. Due to the phenomenal demand, the extra dates of September 3 and 4, 7 and 8, were added to the Music of the Spheres tour.

A post on X by Coldplay today (Saturday, August 30) said: “We’re sorry to announce that, due to planned industrial action on the London Underground, we’ve been forced to reschedule our final two concerts of the current Wembley Stadium run. Without a Tube service, it’s impossible to get 82,000 people to the concert and home again safely, and therefore no event licence can be granted for the nights of 7th and 8th September.

“To avoid cancelling the shows, our only option is to reschedule. The Sunday 7th September show will move to Saturday 6th September.

“The Monday 8th September show will move to Friday 12th September. All tickets will remain valid for their rescheduled date.”

The band went on to say: “If you’re able to attend the new date, you do not need to take any action to secure your ticket for the rescheduled show. Your existing ticket will be valid for entry.

“Any ticket holders who are unable to attend their rescheduled show can get a full refund on their ticket, and are requested to contact their point of purchase before 12noon BST on Tuesday 2nd September. Any returned tickets will be put on general sale at 11am BST on Wednesday 3rd September, exclusively via Ticketmaster.

“The shows on Saturday 30th August, Sunday 31st August, Wednesday 3rd September and Thursday 4th September will go ahead as scheduled. We’re very sorry for the inevitable disappointment, frustration and inconvenience that this situation causes. Coldplay.”

One person responding to the post reflected the feelings of many, saying: “Absolutely gutted – have 5 tickets for rescheduled 6/9 and can’t make it – anyone able to swap for Friday 12/9? If so please get in touch.”

Another said: “But there’s strikes on Saturday 6th Sept too so it’s the same situation as the Sunday.” One person’s desperate plea said: “If someone has 4 tickets for the 7th (now 6th) and they’re not going to be able to attend please please PLEASE contact me. I buy those tickets, my show was the last one and I’m not going to be able to attend the new date.”

A further reply said: “We are 3 students from Spain who have invested all our savings in this trip to see Coldplay. It is very frustrating and disappointing to have invested a great amount of money in hotel and flights just for the concert and to not be able to attend. Our tickets are for the 12th,”

Lots more people expressed their dismay and disappointment. But one person said: “This makes me sad as I won’t be able to attend the last show but I know you will have tried your hardest to come up with the best solution for everyone.”

And another understanding response said: “It’s not your fault, you’re doing your best We love you!”

Coldplay’s ten Wembley dates in the same year make it the most the national football stadium has seen, breaking the previous eight-show record jointly shared by Taylor Swift and Take That. Music of the Spheres is now the most-attended concert tour in history.
