The care home could form part of a wider housing development
Plans have been submitted to East Riding Council for a purpose-built 66-bedroom care home in Pocklington. The planning application is from LNT Care Developments who have developed over 200 care homes across England.
If plans are approved by the council, the care home would be built on a piece of land east of The Balk, in the south of the East Yorkshire town. It would sit within the site of a wider major housing development on the surrounding land.
The development would be delivered by LNT Care Developments’ sister company, LNT Construction. LNT has developed in excess of 253 care homes for older people across England since 1991, according to documents submitted to the council.
The care home proposals detail plans for a three-storey L-shaped building with a brick and composite clad facade. The plans also include a 25 bay car park which will be accessed from a new road within the new housing development.

Plans explain the development is intended to be delivered within 16 months of planning permission being granted. It is said that East Riding Council’s support and assistance is requested to help meet this “tight and critical programme.”
Submitted documents also give insight into what living in the home would look like. It is said: “Residents will benefit from a range of amenity choices, both internal and external, which reflect modern day-to-day activities and provide entertainment, encourage social interaction and generally provide good wellbeing.”
The development would be expected to create between 50 and 60 jobs with staff working on rotational shift patterns. No more than 24 members of staff would be on site at any given time.
