A ‘large road improvement scheme’ is set to begin, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced. The project aims to improve thr road between White Thorn Farm and Smeaton Road.

Works will be undertaken by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s network surfacing scheme, as part of the £345,000 project. It will begin on Monday, September 1, and run for three weeks between 8am and 5pm.

During the construction period, the affected road will be closed to all through traffic. A clearly marked diversion route will be operation via A1079 Arnull Bridge, Main Street, Storking Lane, Ling Lane, Moor Road, Church Road, High Catton Road and Return.

The council has said that access to properties within the works area will be maintained while the road is closed. The carriageway will be structurally patched in preparation for it to be overlaid with a new running surface between White Thorn Farm and Broad Lane Junction.

The section between Broad Lane Junction and Smeaton Road will be structurally patched in preparation for surface dressing in the next financial year, according to the council. The resurfacing works will stop near White Thorn Farm, leaving approximately 500 metres of road (up to the A1079) untreated.

This is due to part of the pending planning application for an Anaerobic Digestion Facility off Long Lane, new utility services will need to be installed along this section. Once those connection works are complete, the remaining resurfacing will be scheduled.
