Plans for non-illuminated signs at a new Amazon warehouse have been submitted after the previous application was rejected.

Residents had raised concerns over a previous plan for an illuminated logo sign to be installed at the main entrance of the facility at Melton Business Park near North Ferriby.

The proposal was turned down by East Riding of Yorkshire Council earlier this month on the grounds of unnecessary light pollution to the area and the impact on people living nearby.

Amazon has now applied to display four non-illuminated signs to the north, south and west elevations of the building and one illuminated sign in its interior.

Plans for the building were approved in December 2021, despite more than 1,300 objections.

On social media, North Ferriby Parish Council said: “It is good to see that finally the wishes of the local community and the parish council have been listened to.

“And hopefully the original submission for high level illuminated signage will not go to appeal.”

Amazon has been approached by the BBC for comment.
