Here’s how we think Hull KR could line-up for Friday’s blockbuster Super League fixture.
Despite Rowan Milnes being named in Hull KR’s extended squad for the first time since rejoining on loan, Willie Peters may opt to stick with the line-up that defeated Castleford Tigers last time out for Friday’s top-of-the-table Super League clash with Wigan Warriors.
In a significant blow, Rovers look set to be without veteran hooker Micky McIlorum for an extended period due to a fractured ankle. The 37-year-old, who is set to leave the club at the end of his contract, suffered the blow during a training session earlier this week.
However, the setback opens the door for in-form Jez Litten to return to the starting hooker role, having enjoyed plenty of individual success throughout the 2025 season to date. Bill Leyland is then likely to take up a spot on the interchange bench.
Mikey Lewis and Sam Luckley have both been cleared to feature at the Brick Community Stadium for Super League Round 22 after recovering from respective knocks. In a huge boost, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is also in line to return following a minor calf issue.
The biggest question lies in the halves. Milnes was unavailable to face his parent club at Sewell Group Craven Park and so it was Arthur Mourgue – shifting from full-back – who replaced the suspended Tyrone May and partnered Lewis in the halves.
Head coach Peters may stick with Mourgue and Lewis as his playmaking duo after the 36-6 home result, with the versatile Jack Broadbent continuing at full-back.
With strong competition in the back-row, James Batchelor can retain his place in the centres, though impressive youngster Noah Booth also remains an option.
A win on Friday would see Hull KR close in on a first-ever League Leaders’ Shield. They currently hold a four-point lead over reigning champions Wigan, who have named Bevan French in their squad. Junior Nsemba will miss the blockbuster fixture due to head injury protocols, while England prop Luke Thompson is also sidelined.
Hull KR’s predicted 17: Jack Broadbent, Tom Davies, Peta Hiku, James Batchelor, Joe Burgess, Mikey Lewis, Arthur Mourgue, Sauaso Sue, Jez Litten, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Dean Hadley, Rhyse Martin, Elliot Minchella. Bench: Jai Whitbread, Sam Luckley, Kelepi Tanginoa, Bill Leyland.
