A CCTV appeal has been issued by British Transport Police after metal items placed on railway tracks in Hull caused severe damage. These images show a man who they would like to speak to in connection with their investigation.

At around 5.35am on Saturday, July 19, a man trespassed near Spring Bank West, police said. It is reported metal items, including railway signalling equipment, were placed onto the tracks.

A freight train later struck the objects, causing severe damage and bringing the train to a standstill. Officers believe the man in the images may have information that could assist with their enquiries.

Anyone who recognises him is asked to text BTP via 61016, or call 0800 40 50 40, using the reference 2500093278. Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
