An off-duty police dog handler spotted a vehicle being driven erratically, Humberside Police said

An off-duty police dog handler spotted a vehicle being driven erratically around Beverley, Humberside Police said. The alleged incident took place at 10:30am on Friday, August 1.

The officer called for back up and the police dog unit were deployed with Police Dog Arny. According to police, the vehicle was stopped outside an address on Wilbert Lane.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly tried to flee the scene on foot towards the town centre. PD Arny was deployed and quickly located the man, who was allegedly climbing a fence.

Officers conducted a roadside drugs test in which the driver was reported to have failed. The force also said that upon searching the vehicle, suspected class A drugs were discovered.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession with intent to supply class B drugs. Officers conducted a search of a property believed to be connected to the vehicle and what was believed to be a knife was located and seized.

As a result, the man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He has since been released on bail whilst enquiries are ongoing.
