Abu Kamara has been linked with a move to Swiss outfit Basel as speculation surrounding the future of the Hull City winger continues to hover above the MKM Stadium.

Kamara scored the winning goal in City’s come-from-behind victory over Premier League newboys Sunderland on Tuesday night to cap a much-improved display from the former Norwich City youngster.

The 21-year-old has been the subject of interest from former loan club Portsmouth this summer, as well as Scottish giants Rangers, but it’s understood no firm bids have yet been received, meaning the Tigers have not yet been forced into a decision over his future.

In addition to that interest, FLW claim Basel are eyeing up a move for Kamara, who joined City on deadline day last summer in a big money move from the Carrow Road club.

At this stage of the summer, City would be loath to lose Kamara with Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi not yet fit to return to first team action after long spells out with their respective ACL injuries.

The club have signed Joel Ndala from Manchester City on loan and are expected to complete the free transfer signing of David Akintola, pending a successful visa application.

Last term, Kamara played 38 times in the Championship for City, scoring five goals, including an impressive brace against Yorkshire rivals Leeds United in a pulsating 3-3 draw.

The youngster ended up being the Tigers’ only natural winger after both Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi picked up season-ending ACL injuries two weeks apart in October.

Boss Sergej Jakirovic, meanwhile, believes Kamara will continue to get better as he gets fitter, and more familiar with how the Bosnian wants him to operate off the right flank.

“He’s a very explosive player, a very fast player,” Jakirovic said. “Sometimes he gets me angry because he doesn’t run on the ball, but he will be better and better.”
