Enthusiasts from miles around will be taking part in the free-to-visit event
Two days devoted to classic cars will draw hundreds of fans of beautiful vehicles from down the years. The Weighton Wolds Rotary Club’s annual charity classic car show is making a return to the region.
The car show, hosted by Langlands Garden Centre, Shiptonthorpe, will take place over the bank holiday weekend of Sunday and Monday, August 24 and 25. Langlands, part of British Garden Centres (BGC) group, promises a spectacular two-day showcase featuring over 200 classic cars each day.
Libby Stubbs, marketing and communications coordinator at BGC, said: “We’re thrilled to continue the tradition of bringing together the community for this incredible event. Each year, the enthusiasm for classic cars grows.
“It’s wonderful to see families and car lovers unite to support such an important cause. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Langlands Garden Centre for a memorable weekend.”
The event will raise funds in support of York Against Cancer, a local charity providing vital cancer services. Visitors can enjoy a stunning variety of vehicles, including pre-war cars and beloved modern classics.
The show offers a unique chance to meet dedicated classic car enthusiasts from East, West, and South Yorkshire. Entry to the classic car show is free, with all donations going directly to York Against Cancer.
Visitors have chance to win some fantastic prizes in a raffle as part of the fundraiser. Any contributions made will help fund crucial cancer services, supported by York Against Cancer.
The Weighton Wolds Rotary Club is proud of its commitment to giving back to the community. Since the first classic car show in 2014, the event has grown exponentially, attracting over 1,000 visitors and raising thousands of pounds for various charities.
As well as the classic cars, Langlands Garden Centre invites visitors to the show to enjoy all the centre’s facilities, including its restaurant that will be offering everything from hearty breakfasts to light lunches and afternoon teas. The venue provides ample free parking, wheelchair access, and coach-friendly facilities to ensure a welcoming experience for all.
BGC is the UK’s largest family-owned garden centre group with 73 centres around the country. The group is owned and led by the Stubbs family, who also own and operate Woodthorpe Leisure Park, in Lincolnshire.
BGC was launched in 1990 with the opening of Woodthorpe Garden Centre by brothers Charles and Robert Stubbs. Since 2018, it has expanded rapidly with the acquisition of 50 garden centres, allowing it to grow from its heartland to the business it is now, employing a team of 3,000 colleagues.
