Emergency crews have been carrying out searches in the sea off the East Yorkshire coast following reports of a person missing in water.

HM Coastguard said they responded to reports of an incident at Thornwick Bay in Flamborough at about 21:08 BST on Wednesday.

Police and ambulance crews attended, along with Bridlington Coastguard rescue team, an HM Coastguard rescue helicopter and RNLI lifeboats from Flamborough, Scarborough and Bridlington.

HM Coastguard said the incident remained ongoing on Thursday as the person, confirmed to be an adult, had not been found.
