Cameron Norrie was left stunned when a journalist brazenly quizzed him about whether he’s romantically involved with Emma Raducanu. The 29-year-old became Britain’s last remaining hope in the Wimbledon men’s singles after defeating Mattia Bellucci 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-3 to reach the last 16.
Following Jack Draper’s surprising defeat to Marin Cilic, Norrie now carries the torch as the sole British representative in the men’s singles. During his post-match media duties, he might have anticipated queries about shouldering the burden of home expectations at SW19 or his chances of claiming Grand Slam glory.
Instead, he found himself fielding an unexpected personal inquiry about his relationship status with Raducanu. Unsurprisingly, the question left him completely flummoxed, reports the Mirror.
The journalist opened with flattery for Norrie – who was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, before declaring for Great Britain at 17, following his parents’ nationality. The reporter said: “Congratulations again on your win.
“Apart from everyone here loving tennis, some of the gossip has been about who Emma Raducanu is dating. Can I ask if you’re dating her? Can we get to the bottom of this, please?”
Norrie, who had been leaning back casually in his chair, immediately sat bolt upright with his eyes widening as he processed what he’d just heard. He responded: “Sorry?”
The reporter repeated his inquiry, pressing: “We’re trying to find out who is dating Emma Raducanu. It seems to be going round all the men’s singles. I was just wondering if you are dating her, please?”
Norrie, looking puzzled, responded: “I’m not, no. You can ask her, though. You can ask her. I don’t know,” before quickly moving on. According to Hello Magazine, Norrie has been dating fashion designer Louise Jacobi since 2019.
Raducanu’s Wimbledon journey concluded on Friday night as she was ousted by World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka with scores of 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.
Speculation has been rife about Raducanu’s personal life, particularly linking her romantically with Carlos Alcaraz, the defending Wimbledon champion.

But Raducanu has quashed such gossip, clarifying that they are merely friends. Discussing her mixed doubles partner for the upcoming US Open, she remarked: “I’ve known him for years. Wimbledon 2021 was the first time I started getting to know him, and I had a good run there and then also again in the US Open in 2021.
“We have a good relationship still. He’s obviously overtaken me a lot, but it’s nice that we have that from a while ago. I think for all of us, we really kind of value those connections that we had from when we were young.
“When you become a bit more known or a bit more successful, you just find yourself reverting back to people you knew from a young age because you’re like, ‘That’s a real genuine connection.’ Because it becomes very busy and you have a lot more friends but the ones that you’ve known for a long time mean a lot more to you.”
