A Hull animal rescue charity has appealed for help to get a four-year-old cat with a number of painful health conditions back to full health.
Jagger is a Blue British Shorthair and a recent arrival at the Hull and East Riding branch of the RSPCA. The charity has put out a “Help Jagger Heal” appeal on social media, after he sadly had to have surgery to remove an eye.
The post said: “At RSPCA Hull and East Riding, we are a locally funded branch, and every animal in our care depends on the kindness and generosity of people like you. One of our most recent arrivals, Jagger, a 4-year-old Blue British Shorthair, has touched all our hearts.
“When Jagger came to us, he was severely overweight at over 8kg, a condition that had already begun to take a toll on his health. Alongside his weight issues, Jagger was also suffering from a painful eye ulcer and gingivitis.
“Over the following months, we worked hard to help Jagger lose weight and treated his eye in every way we could. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, his condition didn’t improve.
“Under veterinary advice, and with great concern due to the risks associated with his weight, Jagger underwent surgery to remove his eye. We’re happy to say Jagger is now recovering well, showing resilience and strength every day.
“But his journey isn’t over yet. He still needs dental surgery to remove infected teeth and ease the pain caused by gingivitis.
“This means more treatment, more care, and more costs. Jagger’s medical needs have been extremely expensive, and as a self-funded centre, we urgently need your support to continue providing the care he needs and helping other animals like him.
“Please consider donating today – every contribution makes a difference. Your kindness helps us give animals like Jagger a second chance at a happy, pain-free life.”
The charity, which has included a link on its Facebook page where supporters can donate to Jagger’s care and recovery, has also asked people to share the post so Help Jagger Heal gets spread as widely as possible.
